Artist: William DOBELL Birth/Death: 1899–1970 Title: The billy boy Credit Line: Australian War Memorial, Canberra In May 1942 William Dobell, aged 42 and too old for active service, was drafted into the Civil Construction Corps of the Allied Works Council (AWC).
