Theme: Patriotic Duty
Artist: Ray ARNOLD Birth/Death: 1950 Title: Blood and bone / Haemorrhage poem Credit Line: Gordon Darling Australasian Print Fund 2000 National Gallery of Australia, Canberra. 'At Le Hamel I witnessed the inauguration of a memorial to the Australian soldiers who served in the First World War. A procession of villagers filed up over the crest of the hill to participate in the ceremony. Young French and Australian soldiers arrived to form the Guards of Honour for politicians and officials from France and Australia. The soldiers formed up to carry the wreath/bodies into the remembrance ceremony. This book has become my contribution. Memory becomes history.'
