This sideboard and music stand were made for Henry and Josephine Prinsep for Prinsep Park, their home near Bunbury, after their arrival in Western Australia in 1866. They are examples of the plain and elegant Regency style of furniture popularised in Britain and Australia between 1800 and 1830. Such design was particularly suited to reveal the rich figured grain of the large jarrah sections used in the construction of domestic furniture in the state’s early colonial period.
