The last of the French expeditions was that of Jules Dumont D’Urville, who visited King George Sound in October 1826. He concluded that it would be difficult to find a more suitable place to establish a colony and professed astonishment that the English had not already done so. Louis de Sainson was draughtsman on the voyage produced lithographs for the published account of the voyage.
