James Minson is recognised as a consummate lampworker who makes jewellery in glass and mixed media.

This neckpiece brings fragile and frosty glass pods into conjunction with white crepe paper components in an unorthodox but satisfying composition. The relative formality of the glass pods complements the informality of the crumpled paper. The glass pods are sandblasted to produce a soft texture and appearance.

The effect of the whole is of an almost weightless ornament. The crispness of the paper and the fragility of the glass conjure up a play of textures. This, combined with the gentle luminosity of both materials, contributes to the work's poetic quality.
