Case Study : National Australia Bank - the National Gallery's Education Access Partner

The National Australia Bank (NAB) is one of Australia's most recognisable organisations, providing generations with financial products and services. The National Australia Bank has had a long association with the National Gallery of Australia, being a major supporter for many years and is also a strong supporter of Australian sport and community programs.

In 2006 the National Gallery of Australia appointed NAB as the Naming Rights Partner of the National Gallery's Sculpture Gallery. As part of this, NAB assisted the National Gallery in purchasing prominent sculptures, which were placed on permanent display for the enjoyment of future generations. NAB received significant exposure for opening of this Gallery and will be recognised in perpetuity for their assistance in purchasing the significant sculptures.

Since 2009 NAB they has been the National Gallery's Art and Education Access Partner, supporting the Gallery's extensive ongoing public programs and education activities such as the National Summer Arts Scholarship, Sculpture Garden Sunday and Big Draw, among others.

As a one of the Gallery's most prolific partners, NAB has received notable exposure through logo placement on marketing materials, acknowledgement in notable speeches from Gallery dignitaries and networking events. As the Art and Education Access Partner NAB runs a stall at the popular family activity day Sculpture Garden Sunday, promoting NAB's commitment to improving children's' accessibility to art.

As part of their Partnership, the National Australia Bank also supports the Gallery's major summer exhibitions and receives a range of benefits associated with the exhibition including after-hours exhibition viewings and cocktail functions. During Renaissance  NAB held a special Renaissance feast in the Gallery's Sculpture Garden Restaurant and invited their key clients and representatives. As part of the event the guests were invited to an exclusive after-hours exhibition tour with the exhibition Curator.

NAB is also given the opportunity to create rewards for staff and clients through competitions and prize giveaways. During James Turrell: A Retrospective, NAB ran a competition for their customers, giving one winner and their guest from each state a trip to Canberra. The prize included return flights, two nights' accommodation with the National Gallery's Accommodation Partner Novotel and a cocktail function incorporating an exclusive curator lead tour of the exhibition.

NAB has also been able to offer their staff and clients unique gifts such as memberships to the National Gallery of Australia and complimentary exhibition tickets.

NAB have been an important and generous partner of the Gallery. Their contribution has undoubtedly assisted the National Gallery of Australia to make the National Collection more available to a wider audience.
