Mathieu Gallois was born in Melbourne in 1969 and has lived in France and Australia. In 1996 he completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Honours) at the Canberra School of Art, the Australian National University. He has had nine solo exhibitions at venues including the Casula Powerhouse, Sydney, 2001; the Experimental Art Foundation, Adelaide, 2000; and the Centre for Contemporary Photography, Melbourne, 2000. Gallois has been included in fifteen group exhibitions, including the Helen Lempriere National Sculpture Award, 2001, in which his work received a special commendation. He was awarded an Australia Council New Work Grant in 1999, and a Samstag Scholarship for 2002. Mathieu Gallois currently lives and works in Sydney.
