Kristian Burford was born in Cadell, South Australia, in 1974. He graduated from the University of South Australia with a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Honours) in 1995. Burford has exhibited in Australia and overseas and had a solo exhibition at the Contemporary Arts Centre of South Australia, Adelaide, in 1999. His work was included in the MoËt & Chandon touring exhibition, 1999; the Helen Lempriere National Sculpture Award, 2001; and Morbid Curiosities, ACME, Los Angeles, and 1-20, New York, 2001. In 1998 he curated Procrustean Bed at the Experimental Art Foundation, Adelaide. Burford has received several awards and grants, including a SAYAB Artists in Studios Grant at Ebenezer Studios in Adelaide, 1995-96, a SAYAB Project Grant in 1997-98, and the Samstag Scholarship in 1999-2000. Kristian Burford currently lives in Los Angeles.
