Valrene Tweedie, who danced with the Ballets Russes de Monte Carlo in 1940, remembers:

It was a wonderful spectacle as a ballet. There was the grand march at the end when all the different costumes and characters went across the stage - it was so colourful. There were so many people in it on the stage. It was very spectacular in that respect - staging wise - looking at the scenery, looking at the costumes. The oranges in it were vibrant and very exciting.
