In 1992 the then Australian National Gallery published European and American Paintings and Sculptures 1870-1970, by Michael Lloyd and Michael Desmond. The catalogue was begun under James Mollison, founding director of the Gallery, and completed under Betty Churcher, second director of the Gallery.
