Patrick Hall was born in Rinteln, Germany, in 1962 and came to Australia in 1970. In 1986 he completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Design and Printmaking) at the Centre for the Arts, UTAS, Hobart. Recent solo exhibitions include Silent recordings, Contemporary Art Services Tasmania (CAST), Hobart (2003), and his work has been selected for many exhibitions in Australia and internationally, including Design island, TMAG (2004); Perfect collection, Fuller Museum of Art, Brockton, United States (2004); and Sculpture objects functional art (SOFA), Chicago, United States (1996, 1997, 1999, 2001 and 2003). In 1988 Hall founded Phish Design with Di Allison and has also undertaken numerous public art commissions. In 2005 he received a University Foundation Graduate Award from UTAS. He has been a Member of the Australia Council’s Visual Arts/Crafts Board and is currently serving on the Board of CAST. Patrick Hall lives and works in Hobart.
