This work on silk belongs to a group of watercolours commissioned in 1904 by Australian-born businessman, collector and philanthropist Sir Edmund Davis. They were part of the decoration of two rooms in his house in Holland Park, London. Illustrating no particular story, these panels are full of fancy and convey an overwhelming sense of luxury.
